From Vaughan's Funeral Home:
Pamela Vanette Calk Plunkett passed peaceably and with dignity losing her battle with Multi System Atrophy on August 25, 2012. While the disease took her mobility and independence she continued to display a remarkable spirit.
She was born October 19, 1944 to Eldon Thomas Calk and wife Clem and was reared in Eldorado, Texas as the daughter of the mayor, living what her father called a "charmed life". She was a dancer, twirler and model and Miss Eldorado Woolen Mills. She had a vibrant spirit and easily captured her husband"s heart while at the University of Texas. They were married in 1965 and built a family and served their church and community, while also traveling extensively.
She served as a teacher, real estate agent and antique dealer. She served three terms on the BISD School Board, one on the Kendall County Appraisal Board and two on the Appraisal Review Board, but was most satisfied with her work to help with building and improving schools while on the School Board and on the committees that planned and built the sanctuary at the First United Methodist Church where she was a member for over thirty-eight years. The role she enjoyed most was being "Grammy" to her six grandchildren. Savoring the beauty of her plants and flowers and sitting next to her fish pond were favorite activities, along with watching the weather. She loved to create, making quilts for grandchildren, sitting at a pottery wheel or painting a mural or a painting for her retreat at the beach. Her spirit and zest for life charmed her family who will miss her greatly.
She is survived by her husband, Lewin Plunkett, her two children and their spouses, Jennifer Jan Barthold and Willie Barthold and David Lewin Plunkett and Celeste Plunkett, and her brother, Mark Oliver Calk. She was blessed with close cousins, including Kathy Locker, Patricia Tindal and Jim Harris in the San Antonio area. She leaves six grandchildren who made her eyes sparkle, Mykayla, Kendall and Jensen Barthold of New Braunfels, Texas and Lucy, Liam and Ledger Plunkett of Manchaca, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Eldon T."Buddy" Calk, Jr.
The Memorial Service will be on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Boerne, with Patrick Heath, officiating.
