Darrel W. Bruck Sr., 93, of Pekin, and formerly of Momence, passed away Tuesday (March 12, 2019) at Morningside Assisted Living in Pekin.

He was born April 18, 1925, in Lake Village, Ind., the son of Antone and Dora Christensen Bruck. Darrel married Florence Lagacy on Feb. 19, 1949, in Momence. She preceded him in death on March 4, 2010.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Jack Rendleman, of Bartonville; and two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrel Jr. and Linda Bruck, of Bourbonnais, and Michael and Teri Bruck, of Sioux Center, Iowa; five grandchildren, Tony and Dawn Rendleman, Angela Rendleman, Brittany Bruck, Erica Bruck, and Jenna and Tim Wynia; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers, Lyle and Arnold Bruck.

Darrel was a local farmer all of his life in Momence and raised hogs from 1949 to 1973. He retired from farming at the age of 75, in 2000. He previously worked for Elwood Line Grain Elevator from 1972 to 1985, spreading fertilizer and farm chemicals. He also worked as a handyman at Lake Alexander Campground from 1968 to 1969. Over the years, he gave mutual assistance to all his farm neighbors such as bailing hay, filling silos and shelling corn.

He graduated from Momence High School in 1943. He played football all four years of high school. Senior year, the team was the 1942 KVC Champs and undefeated team, coached by Phil Hardy.

Darrel was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Momence.

He enjoyed going to the coffee shops in town.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday, March 16, until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Momence. Interment will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Momence.

Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
