He loved knowing the inner workings of things and how they functioned. Gene was intrigued by many things and loved to explore.

Gene is preceded in death by his lovely wife, Denzel JoRetta Lewis; His parents Gladstone and Hattie Mae Lewis.

He is survived by his four adoring and caring children; Greg Lewis, Tamara and David Wheeler, Jack and Laura Lewis, Connie Fulenwider; Grandchildren, Jason and Amanda Lewis, Emily and John Crisp, Josh and Heather Wheeler, Andy and Yvette Fulenwider, Madison and Rick Lusk, and Grant Lewis; Great-Grandchildren, Jonathan, Jake, Jacob, Jasmine, Zane, Jarad, and Blain.
