Robert William Toney, age 86, of Elkins, Arkansas died Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville.


He was born January 15, 1933 in Lomita, California, the son of Arvil John and Daisy Jane (Anderson) Toney.


Bob was a graduate of Elkins High School where he was a star baseball and basketball player.


He joined the Navy, serving for four years and was in the Korean Conflict.


He then returned to Elkins and he and his wife joined his father-in-law Fred Perry in the grocery business (which later was renamed Bomart I.G.A., a combination of Bob & Margaret).


Robert was a member of the Elkins Fire Department where he was the first Fire Chief.


He was baptized in the blood of Christ in 1996.


He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Vol Toney and James Edward "Jim" Toney; and a sister, Marion Drake.


He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann (Perry) Toney of the home; a son, Robert William "Bobby" Jr (Michelle); a daughter, Debbie Miller (Gerald); a sister, Peggy King; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.


The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Beard's Chapel.


Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2019 at Beard's Chapel with Mike Smith officiating.


Interment will follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery with military honors
