Evening News, August 27, 1901, from the Society Pages: "One of the handsomest of the season's receptions given by the Women's Board of Managers of the Pan-American Exposition was the one given yesterday afternoon in honor of Mrs. Nelson A Miles, wife of Gen. Miles, who is here with the Cadet Corps……..Mrs. Alfred G. Hauenstein was gowned in a buff colored taffeta striped with black and trimmed with fine black lace edgings. Her hat was of Etruscan straw trimmed in black velvet and flowers"

Mrs. Minnie Ferris Hauenstein, wife of the late Alfred G. Hauenstein, president of the Hauenstein Lumber Company, died at her home, 725 West Ferry street, early yesterday following an illness of a little over a month. At her bedside were her three sons, Harold G. Hauenstein, president of the Buffalo Lumbermen's Association, Dr. Barton F. Hauenstein of Elmira, and Paul A Hauenstein of this city. Mrs. Hauenstein was one of the best known club women in Buffalo, her career as a publicist, writer, lecturer and student and teacher of poetry covering a period coincident with the growth of many important organizations In the city. She was active In church, literary and club work, and at one time was president of The Scribblers for two terms. She also served as president of the old Women's Christian Association (later the Y. W. C. A.); and president of the women's society of the Delaware Avenue Baptist Church, with which she was connected for 40 years; as vice president of the N. Y. State Federation of Women's Clubs, the Buffalo (continues on another page I have not found)
