Steve Jones, age 70, husband for 47 years to Alene Jackson Jones passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was born January 18, 1949 in Manchester, KY to the late Arley and Betsy Milburn Jones. He was a US Army Veteran serving in Vietnam, being a disabled veteran, he was an activist for veteran's rights. He also loved UK Basketball and hunting and fishing.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Charles "Seven Up" Samples.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Alene Jackson Jones of Richmond, KY three daughters, Sammie Rector and her husband Randall of Rockcastle County, Ky, Stephanie Terry and her husband Tony of Berea, KY, and Tonya Hickey and her husband Brian of Lexington, KY. Two brothers, Elmer Jones and his wife Lois and Eddie Jones and his wife Vickie all of Manchester, KY. Two sisters, Alice Church and her husband Ron of Indiana, and Mae Samples of Florida. Six grandchildren, Ashley Rector Rose, Courtney Rector Napier, Steven Rector, Payton Skidmore, Ally Skidmore and Tori Hickey. Two great grandchildren, Jase Napier and Cashton Rose, three step grandchildren, Logan and Hannah Terry, and Caleb Hickey.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 18, 2019 at Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Lakes officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
