Same story as all Newnham/Newnam/Newman family members in Owsley Co., KY. The original name spelling was Newnham in most of the family lines but some lines spelled it Newnam and some spelled it Newman. I've found 45 or so other spellings of this family name. There were 3 Henry Harrison Newnham/Newnam/Newmans in the area. This one was a son of Henry, Sr who was a son of John Newnham/Newnam (1790-1869). His Civil War Pension Papers say he was born Oct 19, 1841 but other later sources say 1844. His DC says he was buried in the Sam Cecil Graveyard in Vincent, Owsley Co., Ky but Leland Porter thought he may be buried in the Botner Cem in Traveller's Rest, Owsley Co., KY. In 1860 he was 15 and living with his grandparents, John and Leah in Pebworth, Owsley Co. In 1870 he was in Beattyville which is now in Lee Co but may have been considered still Owsley that year. In 1880 he lived on Little Sturgeon Rd in Owsley.
