Terry Wayne Grimes age 75, 125 South Munson Ave. Portland passed away Thursday at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Portland on November 4, 1942 the son of Sarah “Sally” Hill and Earl “Dude” Grimes Jr. He graduated from Portland High School in 1960 and then served with the US Navy for four years. He worked for Teledyne Portland Forge for 43 years. He was also involved in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts in Salamonia and coaching Portland Little League and Pee Wee Football for over 20 years. He was a member of American Legion Post #211 and was an avid sports fan following Jay County sporting teams.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years Sybil Dawn Walls Grimes of Portland, one sister Debi Abbott (husband Jerry) of Portland, children David Wayne Grimes of Georgia, Steven Michael Grimes (wife Elaine Conner) of Fort Myers, Florida, Tracy Dawn Braun of Largo, Florida, Brian Keith Grimes (wife Melissa Mahon) of Portland, Nine Grandchildren Emily Dawn Skirvin (husband Ryan), Ryan Michael Grimes, Lauren Ann Grimes, Cody Richard Bellis, Corey Alan Bellis, Olivia Jean Braun, Madelyn Paige Braun, Parker Keith Grimes and Landon Brian Grimes. Three great granddaughters, Stella Dawn Skirvin, Evelyn Faye Skirvin and Hazel Rayne Skirvin. Uncle to Shane Babbitt, Andrea Poore, Troy Abbott, Michelle Clayton and Kim Mikalowsky.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Eads presiding. Visitation will be Sunday from12:00 –3:00 PM. Memorials can be made to State of the Heart Hospice.
