Doris Faye (Waggoner) Porter, the daughter of George and Urcil Joy (Cobb) Waggoner, was born on September 5, 1923, in Sutherland, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, graduating from Sutherland High School in 1941.

On July 7, 1946, Doris married Kenneth R. Porter in Sutherland. The couple lived in Mt. Pleasant, Des Moines, Sibley and moved to Eagle Grove in 1953. In 1978, they purchased a cabin on Mule Lake in Longville, MN, where they spent 4 happy summers together before he preceded her in death on August 5, 1982. She continued to spend her summers there for many years.

Doris was a member of the United Methodist Church, U.M.W. and Rachel Circle. She also belonged to a group of close friends called the "Koffee Klatch", they would gather for coffee and friendship. Doris enjoyed golfing, tennis, bowling, cards (500/Bridge), bird watching and she was an avid sports fan. She loved to watch all sports on T.V. and would keep stats on many games and series. She enjoyed being with her grand and great-grandchildren and her Dorothy's, Dorothy Middleton and Dorothy Larsen.

Doris passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, at the age of 95 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Jack Porter in 1984; brothers, Burdette Waggoner and Harriet and Delmer Waggoner and Mary; nephew, Dick Waggoner; brothers-in-law, Walter "Bud" Porter and Iva Lee, Gene Porter and Grace, Clarence Porter and Dorothy and Keith McCreery and sister-in-law, Mildred Coffee and Bob. Doris is survived by her daughters, Alice Pendergast of Des Moines and Carol Porter of Eagle Grove; son, Gary Porter (Gretchen) of Grinnell; daughter-in-law, Barb Porter of Montana; five grandchildren: Melissa Dykes (Christopher), Kristen Porter, Stephen Porter (Kate), Tim Pendergast (Brook) and Mike Pendergast; four great-grandchildren: Alex Pendergast, Thaddeaus Dykes, Ellaliyah Dykes and Kenley Porter; sister-in-law, Marion McCreery of Sigourney and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Friday March 22, 2019, 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with Pastor James Roth officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
