In 1974, a dark mole was removed from his side. A 53 years old man and a regularly practicing Christian of the Methodist denomination, he heard his best friend's wife tell of accounts of miraculous healing within the congregation of Trinity Tabernacle (Pentecostal) Church in West Columbia associated with "the laying on of hands". Carter Breeland postoperatively decided to attend and went forward at the invitation to undergo the "laying on of hands". There was a gradual but miraculous disappearance of the tumors.
