He was the son Joseph Benjamin Breland &e Leonora Carter Breland. He & Ed Elbrech founded "14 Carrot Whole Foods". He was the recipient of a divine miracle. In 1974, a dark mole was removed from his side. All was well until an abdominal health crisis lead to his abdomen being opened to find it filled with malignant melanoma (it was inconceivable that he would live more than 6 months). A 53 years old man and a regularly practicing Christian of the Methodist denomination, he heard his best friend's wife tell of accounts of miraculous healing within the congregation of Trinity Tabernacle (Pentecostal) Church in West Columbia associated with "the laying on of hands". Carter Breeland postoperatively decided to attend and went forward at the invitation to undergo the "laying on of hands". There was a gradual but miraculous disappearance of the tumors. (As a pathologist, I was familiar with his case and had seen the diagnostic slides.) The malinancy returned in 1995.
