Jerry Holman
OTTUMWA – Jerry L. "Butch" Holman, 65, of 509 S. Lillian, died 2:42 a m. May 21, 2003, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born Dec. 27, 1937, in Ottumwa to John and Delores Hartley Holman. He married Shirley McCall April 22, 1961. A resident of Ottumwa all of his life, he served 4 years in the United States Navy and 4 years in the United States Naval Reserve. He had worked for 13 1/2 years at Lowenberg Bakery, 11 years and Hormel and then 15 years at Ottumwa Community Schools, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and O B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
Surviving is his wife; two sons, Jerry Holman Jr. of Des Moines and Todd Holman of Ottumwa; two daughters, Angie Cravens and Toni Pilcher both of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Barbara Mitchell and Patricia Fullmer.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by O B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Visitation will begin 9 a m. today at the funeral home with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Bob McCall, Jim Musgrove, Charlie Terrell, Dave Goeke. Gary Smallwood and Dean Palmer.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, American Cancer Society or Retina Eye Clinic at the University of Iowa.
