Son of Daniel Richmond & Margaret Willis Postell & grandson of Captain William Postell of the Revolutionary war and Sally ?.
He married twice. On Jan 1,1862 he married Nancy Ann Burnett & fathered 10 children. On Dec. 15, 1898 he married Susan Victoria Stevens & fathered 5 children.

He fought for the Confederacy during the Civil war enlisting as a private for the 5th South Carolina Cavalry (Ferguson's Regiment)on March 12,1862 in Chehaw, SC.
He was on furlough June 21st for 12 days & sick in camp. On Sept. 24,1863 he was sent to the hospital. He took the oath of Allegiance and discharge, March 11,1865.

The land of the present cemetery at Sauldam Baptist Church in Ravenel, SC were he & numerous amounts of his descandants
are buried was given by him.

Death of George H. Postell
Ravenel, March 25- George H. Postell, a solider of the South, and one of Colleton's most respected citizens, died a few miles from here in the 76 year of his age. The funeral services were solemnized as Saul. Dam Baptist Church, the Rev. J. H. Tuten officiating, and the interment took place in the church yard.
Mr. Postell had been a prominent and successful farmer in this section for the past thirty years, and was always known as a correct and conscientious man. He was a patriot from his heart, and during the reconstruction period did active work in the cause of good government.
He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. F. C. Baldwin, Mrs. J. A. Peeples, of this place. Mrs. William Newton of Adams Run, Mrs. Pink Warren of Stokes, and Messrs James, RIchard, Sam and William Postell, and 45 grand children and 4 great grandchildren.
