NAPPANEE, IN. — Matthew D. Powell, 29, of Nappanee, died Friday, March 8, 2019, in Goshen. He was born Sept. 9, 1989, in Elkhart to Omer and Susan (Davies) Powell.

Matthew is survived by his son, Matthew Powel; parents, Susan and Omer Powell, both of Nappanee; sister, Christi (Kenton) Haman of Syracuse; brother, Jason (Kimberly) Brown of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandpa, Larry (Vickie) Davies of Lapaz; aunt, Michele (Richard) Peters of Nappanee; and uncle, Craig (Carrie) Davies of Nappanee.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Brown; grandma, Sandra James, and grandparents, Omer and Pauline Powell.

Matthew lived his lifetime in Nappanee and was a graduate of NorthWood High School. He worked as a mechanic. He loved fishing, camping, and being outdoors.

Family and friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial followed in South Union Cemetery.
