Martin Comins was trained as a priest and arrived in the Snohomish County area as a homesteader and eventually found employment as a miner in Monte Cristo, Washington. Upon his death he apparently had no family. He was a close friend of fellow homesteader Richard Roesiger who has a large local lake named after him. Comins is a character in the historical novel 'The Pride of Monte Cristo' by J.D. Howard. He died at Providence Hospital in Everett.
