A veteran of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard lead to his ability to become Director of Business Development for Tyco, from which he retired with over 30 years of service and received the Lifetime Achievement Award. He was also actively involved in land development, the Hess Family Farm and for three years, along with his wife, owned the Crossroads Caf in Grantville.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years Carole A. (Long) Hess; sons Donald E., husband of Cynthia Hess and Robert M., husband of Amy Hess all of East Hanover Township; brother Larry, husband of Mary Hess of Hummelstown; sister Brenda Livingston, wife of Carl of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren Tara L., wife of John Demmer III, Levi M. Hess and Anna E. Hess.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Hanoverdale Church, 577 Hershey Road, Hummelstown. Viewings will be held 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday at Buse Funeral Home, 9066 Jonestown Road, Grantville and 10:00 AM until time of service Thursday at the church. Interment will be in Hanoverdale Cemetery.
