Larry "Butch" Cochran, age 80 of Beavercreek, OH passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Dayton V.A. Medical Center. He was born February 20, 1939 in Dayton, Ohio to Jesse and Louise (Stoner) Cochran. Larry married Mary Jo Bruns on October 29, 1959 in Dayton, Ohio.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy, enlisting in 1957 and discharged in 1960. He started working in the sheet metal industry in 1960 and eventually owned his own sheet metal business, Astro Sheet Metal. After some years, Larry retired from Astro and began Cochran Enterprises, from where he retired from as well. Larry enjoyed working on cars and raced dragsters at KilKare Raceway. He possessed a second degree black belt in Shorin Ryu Karate, mentored all his grandsons in karate and was a referee and coach. Larry played guitar and keyboard and got a band together to "jam" in the basement with friends. He was also a member of the Beaver Valley Masonic Lodge. Larry loved his family and his pets dearly and will be greatly missed by all.
Larry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jo; a daughter, Tammy Cochran Duckro; four grandchildren, Andrew Duckro, Jon Duckro, Anthony (Kate) Duckro and Brittani Sagraves; two brothers, James (Jeannie) and Bill (Jackie) Wheeler; nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his step dad, James Wheeler; two sisters, Betty Wheeler and Roberta Hiles; and a brother, Tommy Cochran.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 1:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
