Henry Edwin Goodman, 72, passed away early Saturday morning, March 9, 2019, surrounded by his family. Henry was born January 8, 1947 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Dr. Henry Brown Goodman and Ruth Kendrick Goodman. Henry grew up in Anguilla where he graduated from Anguilla High School. Henry also graduated from Delta State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He spent most of his life in the service of the people of the Mississippi Delta as a licensed clinical social worker. Henry retired as a Regional Director of Social Work for the State of Mississippi Department of Human Services. He continued to work after retirement as a clinical social worker in the outpatient program at Sharkey Issaquena Community Hospital.

Henry is survived by his loving wife, Melissa (Missy) Hall Goodman, his sisters Mitzi Ewing of Anguilla and Susan (Jerry) Yoes of Richardson, Texas, and his four children, Sam (Julie) Goodman of O’Fallon, Missouri, Jessie Bean Bailey of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Hunter Goodman of Anguilla, and Lucy (Mackenzie) Parker of Anguilla. He also is survived by his four grandchildren: Grace Goodman and Eve Goodman of O’Fallon, Missouri, and Henry Parker and Leo Parker of Anguilla. Henry also is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins who were important in his life.

Henry loved dogs, music, baseball, and most of all the company of his many friends and family. He was a lifelong member of Anguilla United Methodist Church.

Henry’s life will be celebrated at Anguilla United Methodist Church on Monday, March 11 with visitation at 9:30 in the fellowship hall and a Service of Death and Resurrection in the church sanctuary at 11:00. Following the service, Henry will be buried in Golden Link Cemetery next to his parents and his infant grandson Henry David Goodman.

Pallbearers are Ben Benvenuitti, Nick Benvenuitti, John Paul Coonrod, Thomas Coonrod, Lindsay Ferry, Henry Hunter, Jeffrey Varas, and Will Varas.
