Algot Larsson, 99, of Brattleboro died peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at Eden Park Nursing Home. He was born on May 7, 1907, in Kilafors, Sweden. Mr. Larsson came to the United States in 1925. He attended barber school in New York and opened a shop on Long Island after completing his education. He served his country in the Army during World War II and took part in the battles of Normandy, the Rhineland and the Ardennes. While stationed near Burlington in 1941, he met his soon to be wife Irene Peterson. In May of 1943, he married Irene Louise Peterson and together they spent the next 48 years happily married. She predeceased him in 1991 and is buried at the Morningside Cemetery in Brattleboro. Mr. Larsson worked all of his life as a barber, serving on cruise ships and often helping with many other duties on ship due to his knowledge of many languages. He loved to travel the world and also enjoyed music, including playing the accordian. He and his wife settled in Brattleboro in 1978 and had been residents of this area since. He is survived by two nieces, Jane de la Pena of St. Louis, Mo., and Hilda Garby of Florida.
