Gary Swallow, 75, of Grand Island died March 8, 2019, at CHI St. Francis Medical Center.

Memorial service will be 1:00 pm Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Apfel Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Bowen officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. A gathering of family and friends will be 5-7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Gary was born August 23, 1943 in Des Moines, IA, to Wayne and Lucille (Reiman) Swallow.

He moved to Grand Island in 1967.

He graduated from Belview University with a business degree and worked at Berkley Pumps/Pentair. Gary retired after 35 years as plant manager.

Gary was as outdoors man and loved hunting, fishing, camping, collecting guns. He also enjoyed traveling, Hummer club excursions, and spending time with his grand kids.

Survivors include: wife Betty Swallow of Grand Island; children: Brian (Beth) Swallow of Omaha, NE, Amy (Lupe) Martinez of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Hannah Swallow, Aidan Martinez, Ella Martinez; brother: Dennis Swallow; sister-in-law: Vicki Swallow; special companion: Susan Kolbo; and best friend: Gene Harmon.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
