Vera Mae Adams, 78, of Crossett, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019, at her home. She was born in Eudora, AR on August 25, 1940, to her parents, Olin Ray and Peble Andrews Murphy. Vera was a faithful and beloved member of the Cloverdale Assembly of God Church family and a former resident of Lake Village and Hamburg.
For nearly thirty years, Vera worked as a waitress at various restaurants including the Hollywood Steakhouse, Tiebels, Kent’s, and eventually retired from Al’s Truck Stop.
She enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, shopping, quilting, cooking, and working puzzles. She had an indisputable green thumb which was evident in her beautiful plants and luscious garden and she loved animals.
Vera was a very generous lady who never met a stranger and always put others before herself. She loved her family dearly and was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two husbands, John H. Williams, and Calvin Adams; one brother, Olin R. Murphy, Jr.; a daughter, Cindy Adams; one daughter in-law, Kelly Williams; and a niece and nephew, Emmily Marie Nelms and Eric Murphy.
She is survived by nine children, Johnny M. Williams (Sissy) of Snyder, Debbie Thomlison and Jamie Williams both of Crossett, Teresa Patrick (Brandon) of Hamburg, Katina Manchester (Mike) of Liberty, MS, Margie Whitmore (Wesley) and Pam Adams both of Fayetteville, Danny Adams of Chattanooga, OK, and Barry Adams also of Fayetteville; two brothers, Rondle Murphy of Monroe, LA, and Willard Murphy (Merry) of El Dorado; five sisters, Marie Chandler, Helen Johnson, and Faye Ritzell all of Crossett, Jody Tanksley of Mist, and Brenda Nelms (Frankie) also of Crossett; along with 28 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Cloverdale Assembly of God Church, 132 Ashley Rd 15 at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 10th, with Pastor Wes Miller and Bro. Sam Clark officiating, followed by an interment at Union Grove Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.
