Karen was a devoted mother of two, cared deeply for others and was a true Good Samaritan. She was a rose enthusiast and enjoyed crocheting baby booties and blankets for hospital infants.
Karen is survived by her children, Mark Traina and Shelly Brescher and husband Curtis; granddaughters, Claire and Camille Brescher; brother, Gary Smith and wife Jill; nieces, Emily and Sarah Smith; cousins, Tom Engert, David Engert, Laurie Engert Shirer, Gladys Johnson, and R. Scott Smith.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Bernhard Theodore “Ted” Smith and Doris Demoruelle Smith; sister, Lesley Smith Foster.
Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 12:00 pm until funeral services at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
