Irene Mae Stewart (Hohensee) was born on December 23, 1931 in Western, NE to Henry and Ella Hohensee. She died March 8, 2019.


She was baptized at St. John's Evangelical Church on March 20, 1932 in Western, NE and was confirmed on April 2, 1944. Irene participated in volleyball, softball and music in high school, and she graduated high school on May 18, 1949. After graduation Irene moved to Lincoln and stared working at A.H. Lock Company in the office, where she worked for many years. On July 2, 1955, she was united in marriage to William Allen Stewart of Western. Irene and Bill were adventuresome and lived in Phoenix, Arizona for a few months, and then moved to Denver for three months. When Irene's father became ill, they moved back to Lincoln. In February of 1959, Irene started working at National Back of Commerce in the bookkeeping department. In November of 1961, their daughter Jolene was born. In November of 1972, Irene and Bill moved to Milford, Nebraska where Irene was the bookkeeper for their business, Media Equipment Services. Irene and Bill worked together and enjoyed life together until Bill's death in February of 1994. She was a member of Good Shephard Lutheran Church in Milford. Irene enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling and shopping.


Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jolene and Terry Stutzman of Lincoln; grandchildren, Heather Stutzman, Matthew Stutzman and Natasha (Nate) Holly all of Lincoln; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Joyce Hohensee of Lincoln; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.


Preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ella Hohensee; husband, Bill Stewart; sisters and brothers-in-law, Leola and Henry Beerenstrauch, Dorothy and Edward Vorderstrasse, Beulah and Alfred Bohlmeyer and Marjorie and Alvin Kobes; brothers and sisters-in-law, Louis and Doris Hohensee, Melvin Hohensee, Merlyn Hohensee, David and Dottie Hohensee, Wayne and Leola Hohensee, Dale Hohensee, Virgil Hohensee and Leo and Bonnie Hohensee; sister-in-law, Darlene Fiero (Stewart); brother-in-laws, Darrell Fiero and Norman Gammel and several nieces and nephews.
