Hawk Eye, The (Burlington, IA) - Wednesday, May 25, 2005

Born July 18, 1903, in Knox City, Mo., he was the son of Hosea Sylvester and Maggie Goodson Parrish. On Nov. 2, 1926, he married Ola Beckert in Edina, Mo. She died Sept. 16, 2004.

Mr. Parrish farmed for 60 years on a farm near Mount Sterling.

He lived in Knox County, Mo., until moving to the farm. He played the fiddle and harmonica for dances and other community functions throughout his life.

Survivors include one grandson, Larry Joe Parrish of Virginia Beach, Va.; five great-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, two grandsons and five brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

The graveside service for Mr. Parrish will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Harness Cemetery in Mount Sterling, with the Rev. Bryon Wixom officiating.
