Born in Danville, on August 4, 1951, he leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Cynthia Robertson Farmer; a son, Brandon Paige Farmer (April); brothers, William "Barry" Farmer and Mark Farmer; a sister, Adair Somerville. He graduated from GW High School and Averett University with a Business degree. Having grown up in his father's cattle business, he chose to join him. He loved toting Brandon around at the cattle sales when he was small.
