James Ward, a splendid citizen was a son of the late Samuel and Effie Keep-Ward and was born in Scot County, Mo., in 1858. The parents returned to this county in 1861. His advantages were those of the youth of his times, his education being received in the common schools of the day and on the farm.
In 1887 he was united in marriage to Miss Della Carnagy and to this union, two daughters, Mrs. Edward Jackson and Mrs. Ernest VanHook, and one son, Elvis were born, there together with the wife, surviving him.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. Collier, were held from the home at 2 p.m. Thursday, interment in Mt. Hope cemetery, conducted by Boord & Shelby."-The Covington Republican, Friday, November 4, 1932
