Betty Jean Allen was born in Fairburn Georgia on October 24th, 1937 to the late Mr. Charlie Scott and Mrs. Rosetta Dixon Scott.

She transitioned on January 25th, 2017 from her earthly home to her heavenly home. She received her education at Palmetto Elementary School and South Fulton High School.

Betty Jean joined the Miller Grove Baptist Church at an early age. She served under the leadership of Rev. J.W. Wise. She was a committed and dedicated servant of the Lord. In 1950, when Miller Grove Baptist Church was established, she was a Sunday school teacher for the youth. Down through the years, she served on the Usher Board, she sang in the MGBC Choir and she was a member of the Mother's Board Committee of the Miller Grove Baptist Church Family.

She was a faithful and devoted housewife. Later she went to work as a Nurse's Aide at Bonterra Nursing Center until she retired.

In 1956, Betty Jean married Alfred Allen, Jr. and to this union six children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Charlie Scott and Mrs. Rosetta Dixon Scott; three brothers, John Paul, Samuel, John Wesley Dixon, and husband, Alfred Allen, Jr.

Betty Jean loved being in the garden tending to her flowers and preparing big Sunday dinners for her children, grandchildren and friends. She also enjoyed singing spiritual hymns and listening to gospel music.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons : Alfred Charles Allen, Douglas & Stephanie Allen, Randall & Camarcia Allen, three daughters : Deborah Colquitt, Laura Gail Williams, and Jennifer & Dexter Dumas, two sisters : Irene Goodwin and Josephine Allen, two sister-in-laws , one brother-in-law, twenty five grandchildren : Lil Charles, Tamisha, Tiffani, Jamaal, Evan, Randall, Justin, Amber, Brittany, Camarshe, Raven, Savannah, Autumn, Jova, Tina, Boogie, Douglas, Conterrius, Trevon, Cedric, Drick, Damien, Decarlos, Demarus, Jasmin and a host of great grands, loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 30, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 5755 Mallory Road, College Park, Georgia 30349.

Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Garden

Family will receive friends Sunday, January 29,2017 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
