On Thursday, Megan was unexpectedly called home to be with the Lord.

Megan, born on Father's Day, June 19, 1988, was loved and adored by everyone she encountered during her short time here with us. Though Megan was born in Norway, she traveled extensively here and abroad with her family during her dad's military service. She learned to speak German while attending kindergarten in Stuttgart, Germany. Megan loved the outdoors, especially winter, and along with her two brothers, she learned to ski in the Alps of Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

She had a tender heart for both people and animals. One of her dreams was to own a horse, and this past spring after long and careful searching, her father bought a horse for her to ride and care for. Her dog, Moka, was also dear to her heart, and even though he became blind, she cared for him with great diligence and gentleness.

Most of Megan's short life was spent with her brothers. They loved to play football in the yard, go four-wheeling, go skiing, fly kites, anything outside. They did everything together - they were best friends. She was so thankful when Nick married Aimee and her desire for a sister became a reality. Megan was so grateful to finally have a sister to go with her two brothers. Megan's love for Aimee quickly grew to be as much as her love for her brothers.

Megan loved her grandparents deeply. She and her brothers spent many hours with them. They went camping, swimming, boating, hiking, and many other things with both sides of the family. Megan had the grandfathers wrapped around her little finger; a trade secret she shared only with Aimee.

As a Patriots fan to the core, Megan could tell you nearly any statistic about them. All week leading to the game Megan would be on the Internet "researching," trying to figure out who would win. A process she admitted only caused her stress and anxiety. She made a No. 37 jersey for her dog to wear while they watched the game. Though he usually slept until she hooted and hollered, she claimed he was as excited as she was.

Relationships Megan established with others were permanent. She stayed in contact regardless of where their paths in life took them. Megan and her family visited one such family, the Garcia's, in Los Angeles, six years after they had last seen each other as neighbors in Erie, Pa. The Garcia's as well as all the neighbors had "adopted" Megan and her brothers. As Megan grew older, she began "adopting" children that she sat for. She referred to Arian as her "stepdaughter."

Though Megan enjoyed all these things, her greatest love was the Lord. All the strength and confidence Megan had came from the knowledge of Jesus living within her. No matter what was going on, no matter how late or how busy she was, Megan made time to read the Bible and go to church. It was her source of strength and courage for her life. She was not afraid to speak her mind to others, but she would speak it with great love and gentleness. Yet, Megan spoke the love of Jesus not so much by what she said, but simply by the way she was. She loved God's Word and she lived it. God's love was shown by the way she delighted in serving others, by the way she always saw the best in people, and how she always found their potential, no matter how they appeared from the outside.

Megan and her family were going to publicly announce her engagement to Sean Michael Lebida of Bowdoin on her father's birthday, Jan. 1. She eagerly looked forward to spending her life with him. Megan would want all to keep him in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Megan's life embodied grace and humility towards others because of her deepest and most sincere belief in God's saving grace through Jesus Christ. Her quiet and gentle spirit captivated everyone she encountered.

She will be dearly missed by her family and friends until they are reunited again in heaven. Megan is survived by all who knew and loved her.
