David L. Gustafson, 79, of Frederic, Wisconsin, passed away in the early morning on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at St. Croix Regional Medical Center. David was born on Jan. 9, 1940, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of John and Adeline Gustafson.

David attended Frederic High School and graduated in 1958. After high school, David worked for Western Union, installing and repairing their systems. He married Judith Jenson on Aug. 17, 1963. They lived in Princeton, Minnesota, and then moved to Coon Rapids, Minnesota. David left Western Union and the family moved to Milaca, Minnesota, where he began working for Judith’s uncle, installing laundromat equipment throughout the U.S. David and Judith purchased the Wash House in 1975 and the family moved to Frederic. Later they went on to own the Milltown Laundromat and the Frederic Liquor Store. In addition to being a business owner, David worked at Durex in Luck, Wisconsin, for 15 years.

David enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s athletic events and years of Gustafson Brothers Racing. He enjoyed checking in on Doug and Mason as they worked in the fields and on the pigs on the farm. Every morning David met with friends for coffee and conversation and would then go over to visit with his brother Daniel until his passing recently. He also enjoyed his trips to the casino and the friendships he developed from the bus trips he would take.

David leaves to celebrate his memory, son, Douglas (Doreen) Gustafson, Frederic; daughter, Kimberly Gustafson, St. Paul, Minnesota; and son, Steven Gustafson, Frederic; grandchildren, Allison, Carly, Mason and Matthew; sister, Dianne (David) Schroeder; sister-in-law, Lois Gustafson; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Adeline; his wife, Judith; brothers, Jack, Mark, Daniel and Duane; and his sister, Carole.

David will be laid to rest alongside his wife Judith at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
