New City - Edith "Edie" Ryan passed away on March 5, 2019 with her four daughters and two sons by her side. She was ninety-one years old. Edith was married to the love of her life Ralph J. Ryan for over sixty years. A long-time parishioner of St Francis of Assisi church, she was a member of the Ladies Guild, the Cackling Rosie Red Hats and volunteered at Clare's Cove. For many years she worked as a teacher's aide for Rockland BOCES school. Her greatest joys came from her family and friends. She is survived by her six children, Anne Gasparri (husband Ron), Joanne Volpe (husband Rich), Margaret Ryan, Ray Ryan (wife Linda), Patty Frisbee (husband Coy), and Michael Ryan (wife Carol); She was loved by her grandchildren Brianna, Emma, Coy David, Danny, Thomas, Tracey, Jennifer, Rebecca, Robert, Patrick, Ron, Alicia and Katie. She was loved by her great-grandchildren Jason, Annabel, Mikayla, Kylie, Ava, Michael, Caroline, Christopher, Blake, and Ronald John. She is also survived by her sister Herta Gayer and brother in law Thomas Scott. Her joy of humming a tune, beautiful smile and giving heart will be missed by all she touched.
Family will receive friends on Thursday 3/7/2019 from 4-8pm at MJ Higgins Funeral Home, 321 S. Main St., New City, NY 10956. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Friday 3/8/2019, at St. Francis Church in West Nyack. Interment to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Nanuet. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Edith's name to be sent to United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stockum Lane, New City, NY 10956.
