Her parents were Rosa Gibbs Maxwell Morse and Amos Buckley Morse Sr. Emily married John Cooper Cook in 1935. She and John Cooper Cook had two sons John Morse Cook (1937 - ) and Charles Francis Cook (1941 - 2017). After her first husband's death in 1959 she married Howard Gordon Riley in 1966.
