Mark Allen Herndon was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Viva Claire Emerson and Leo Herndon, Jr.

He attended school in Richardson, Texas and graduated high school in Idabel, Oklahoma. Mark attended the University of Texas at Austin and received an accounting degree. He furthered his studies at SMU Dedman School of Law. He graduated in 1978 and passed the bar in Texas and Oklahoma in 1979. He practiced corporate litigation for real estate and oil and gas, and over the last 25 years focused on construction law.

Mark had various hobbies, including race cars and was a lover of dogs. He was a collector of many things. Mark was a lifetime member of the Idabel First United Methodist Church.

Mark was truly an educator at heart and mentored many young people whose lives were greatly impacted by his dry sense of humor, wisdom and affection.

He is survived by Tamara Ince of the home; his daughter, Amy Flores of Dallas, TX; his stepson, Hunter Leachman of Austin, TX ; a brother, Joe Herndon of Durant, Oklahoma; two nieces, Sydney and Katherine Herndon of Durant, Oklahoma; and cousins, Diane Sprague and Jalen Blewett of Idabel, Oklahoma.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at the Aria Irving Chapel at 2:00 pm. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Denison Cemetery in Idabel, Oklahoma.
