OBITUARY:

Death.---"Blount---Joseph Allen Blount was born in Highland county, Ohio, Dec. 24, 1818. When a young man he moved with his family to Huntington county, Ind. He was married to Miss Electa Ann Friend, near Roanoke, Ind., in 1838. Of the five children born to this union. Two are living: Eli Blount, of Gray Eagle, Minn., and Mrs. Hattie Merrill, of Hiawatha. Soon after their marriage Mr. Blount with his bride was converted at a camp meeting and joined the Methodist Episcopal church. His wife died in October 1862, and he married Mrs. Jane Peacock. of the children born to them, town are still living Charles and William Bo9unt. The deceased moved to Brown county, Kans. in 1870. He also lived in Harrison and Holt county, Missouri. He was severely injured from a fall some nine years ago since which time he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Merrill. In this city. He has one living brother, Dr. R. F. Blount, of Wabash, Ind. Brother Blount belonged to the Pioneer type of Christian. He loved the old doctrines and the old hymns, and he loved his church. Like Paul he could say when nearly 92 years of age, "I have kept the father." The funeral was held Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Merrill conducted by Rev. J. W. Scott. Burial was made in the Hiawatha cemetery.---Rev. J. W. S."

Besides daughter, he leaves one son, Eli Blount, of Grey Eagle, Minn. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the home of Mrs. Merrill conducted by Rev. J. W. Scotts."
