McMINNVILLE - Elda Chapman, 79 , died at home Wednesday of leukemia.
Born in McMinnville, she lived in Suttan, Wash., for three yrears before returning to McMinnville in 1942. She worked at Sheridan School District for 20 years in food service and laundry.
She earned blue ribbons for her canning, pies and oil painting at the county fair and Phil Sheridan Days. She enjoyed yard work and raising flowers.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth, who she married in 1939; sons, Walter Chapman of Forest Grove, Kenneth Chapman of Sheridan and Norman Chapman of Stayton; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be noon on Monday at Bethel Baptist Church where she was a member. Arrangements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen Chapel of the Gardens in Salem.
