Abel Johnson, born 19 Dec 1752 Coventry, RI, son of John Johnson and Bethany Goff.
Abel Johnson settled in Berkshire, VT before 1800.
He is credited with building some of the mills at the falls of the Pike River in W. Berkshire. He served as justice of the peace and represented Berkshire in the state legislature in 1801 and 1802 Previously, he lived at Shaftsbury and Salisbury, VT. He reached Berkshire by following marked trees.
He died at the home of his daughter, Eleanor (Johnson) Hibbard.

Our family records state that he died in West Berkshire, Franklin, VT.
Married Patience Colvin on Dec 21 1775 in Shaftsbury, Bennington, VT. Family tale is that she ran off with the hired help. Her death and burial location are unknown.
2nd marriage was to Zenobia FLAGG Ewins in 1793 in Berkshire, Franklin, VT.
