He grew up in the Dansville / Mason area before proudly serving in the US Army doing two terms in Vietnam from March 1963 until March 1966. Steve then worked in Lansing in 1966 when he met and married Susan Dietrich. They then resided in St. Johns. In 1977 Steve moved the family to a Dairy Farm west of Lake Odessa where he raised five children.
After retiring from Dairy farming with his son in 2015 he spent his time volunteering at Manna’s Market and Kilpatrick UB Church, working on restoring his antique John Deere tractors and researching his genealogy. He loved traveling with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be dearly missed by: his wife of 52 years Susan, children; Ron (Yvonne) Leonard, Donna Leonard, Stephanie (Darren) Faught-Bosworth, Gary (Hollie) Leonard, daughter-in-law Teresa Leonard, grandchildren; Alissa (Mando) Leonard Artavia, Holly Leonard, Heidi (Kaleb) Makley, Aaron Leonard, Robert (M’Kyleigh) Leonard, Rebbeca Leonard, Steven Adkins, Andrew Adkins, Cassandra Adkins, Jackson Faught, Suzanna Faught, Kaleb, Barak, Jesse, Emma and Clara Leonard, sister Teri Leonard, sister in laws Mary Jo and Sally Leonard.
Steve was preceded in death by: his parents Dorothy and Don, son Joseph Leonard, brothers Richard and James Leonard, step-mother Joyce Leonard.
Funeral services were held at the Kilpatrick United Brethren Church, Woodland, MI on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. Burial was private at Lakeside Cemetery.
Memorial in Steve’s name can be given to Manna’s Market or Spectrum’s Home Health Hospice.
