Mrs. Hale graduated from Phil Campbell High School and was an aide at Phillips High School for many years. Irene attended Bethel Baptist Church for 40 years and served as a Sunday school teacher.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 6 pm-8 pm at Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in Haleyville, Alabama, where services will be held Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 2 pm. Burial will follow in Winston Memorial Cemetery in Haleyville, Alabama.
Irene is survived by her son, Randall Hale; daughters, Pam Knight and Robin (Randal ) Poe; and sister, Lucy Hale. She was known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren: Nathaniel Knight, Danielle Self, Joseph Self and Chris Self; great-grandchild, Alexa Knight. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Hale; parents, Hubert and Rosa Alexander; brothers, Roy Alexander, Ralph Alexander, and Hoyle Alexander; sister, Helen Brimer; and brother-in-law, Grady Hale.
