David M. Hess, age 66, of Quarryville, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 as a result of an accident. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John L. and Mary L. Jackson Hess. He attended Colerain Baptist Church. David drove milk truck for LC Welk and then later for EM Herr, retiring in 2017. He was a member of Quarryville Fire Company Fire Police and a past captain and was a lifetime member of the Bart Township Fire Company. David enjoyed playing softball, hunting, fishing, birds and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
He is survived by his companion Jacquie Welk, 3 children: Jason husband of Tabitha Wertz Hess of New Providence, Jordan Hess companion of Kelly Connor and Justin Hess both at home, 4 grandchildren and 2 siblings: Charles L. husband of Judith Whiteside Hess of Kirkwood and Janet M. wife of Ronald L. Erb of Bart. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Edwin Lee and Robert S. Hess.
Funeral service will take place at Colerain Baptist Church, 1923 Noble Road, Kirkwood on Wednesday, March 6, at 11 a.m. There will be a visitation at the church on Tuesday, March 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
