Nancy passed away on Oct. 13, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital, Tacoma, Wash. She was born in Grand Island, Neb., on Oct. 9, 1936, to Jim and Lena Webster. The family moved to Tacoma in December of 1940.

Nancy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954 and WSU (aka: WSC) in 1958. She had a love for music, playing the clarinet, and participating in both marching bands. Majoring in choral music, she will always be remembered for having one of the finest music departments in the Tacoma Public Schools at Hunt Junior High School.

Nancy leaves behind, to mourn their loss, her loving husband, Lee, and his family. She is also survived by a younger sister, Sally (Wayne) Evenson; a nephew and niece and their spouses; one great-nephew; and two great-nieces. Nancy always reminded them she was not their real aunt, but an aunt who was great.

A memorial service was conducted at Mountain View Funeral Home in the Garden Chapel on Oct. 23. Nancy was cremated and her remains were put in the ground next to her mother and father.

Remembrances may be sent to WSU Foundation, PO Box 641927, Pullman, WA 99164, Attn.: Music Department in memory of Nancy J.W. Staggs. She will be dearly missed by her family and a multitude of friends.

We all share in the loss of Nancy, who made the world a nicer place.
