Winner of the Bronze Star, William L. Claflin, 49, R. 4, died at Door County Memorial hospital on Sept. 14. He had served with the U. S. Army during WW II and the Korean War.
He was born in the town of Gardner on Oct. 3, 1928 to William and Mayme (Scofield) Claflin. March 29, 1952 he wed Janet Gustafson at Salem Lutheran church.
His wife survives along with a son Lee, R. 4; grandson Chris; brothers Bob Scofield and Allen, R. 4, Milton, Florida, and Berton, Two Rivers; sisters, Mrs. Hazel Hosterman, Menasha, Mildred Claflin and Mrs. Al (Carman) Ligman, R.4, Mrs. Wendell (Bernice) Nelson, Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. George (Fern) Schubert, Sturgeon Bay.
His parents and a brother Merle preceded him in death.
The Rev. A. A. Schabow conducted funeral services Sunday at the Soulek funeral home. Entombment was at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay.
Veterans services were conducted at the funeral home by the American Legion Firing Squad. Pallbearers were Rick, Bob, Larry and Dave Gustafson, Steve Blasier and Dennis Kiedrowski.
