Dennis “Snuffy” Simmons, 62, of Coahoma, died Thursday, February 28, 2019 at his residence.

Memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Myers & Smith Chapel with Doug Shelley, pastor of East Side Baptist Church and Scott Kirkland, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating.

Snuffy was born August 17, 1956 in Roswell, New Mexico to Ola Margene “Pat” Holcombe and James Richard Simmons. He has been a resident of Howard County since 1967. Snuffy was a welder and had worked at Phillips Fabrication and later Desert Tanks. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, loving the outdoors. He was a semi-pro bass fisherman and processed deer during hunting season. He was involved in the rodeo scene for several years as well.

Snuffy never met a stranger and befriended all who he met. He would help out with anything needed, no questions asked, never expecting anything in return. Snuffy lived a simple life and valued relationships with friends and living out in the country. He was always very supportive of his children and so proud to be a father and a grandfather. Snuffy was a Baptist.

Snuffy is survived by one daughter: Ashlie Simmons (Tara Boice) of Bellingham, WA and one son: Jerrod Simmons (Tracye) of Prosper, Texas; two grandchildren: Cash Tyler Simmons and Sloane Catherine Simmons. Dennis is also survived by his beloved mother, Pat Simmons of Big Spring.
