Darwin Lee Compton, 64, passed away November 11, 2005. He was born Januarv 1, 1941, the son of the late Albert Emerson and Marie Addington Compton. Survivors include his wife, Carol Kay Teague Compton; his son, Darwin Lee Compton II; his daughter, Lisa Marie Compton; and a sister, Becky Belcher. Services were conducted at Hartsell Funeral Home and burial, was in Stanly Gardens of Memory in Albemarle. North Carolina.

Darwin was a huge fan of history and an avid reader as well as a lover of animals. He and his wife had several dogs, including Brandy, Cody and Gypsy, that were very dear to him. He contributed to his community's theater arts programs, as a key member of the Uhwarie Players, and was a well-respected member of the local Albemarle business community. He also left behind two nieces, Rebecca and Diana, and two grandchildren, Rafael and Carolina.
