Edward Francis ‘Bud’ Stephenson, 89, of Hutchinson, died March 2, 2019, at his home. He was born March 18, 1929, in Hutchinson, to Milford and Clara (LaForge) Stephenson. Bud graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1947. He served in the United States Army. Bud was the owner of Stephenson’s Paint & Wallpaper for 42 years. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic minister, served on the finance committee, and built and decorated the Adoration Room. Bud was a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council #612.
On September 30, 1950, he married Marcellee Shea in Hutchinson. She died April 29, 2005.
Surviving are: daughters, Jeane Ann Cunningham, Wichita, Sharon Leslie (Jerry), Cañon City, CO, Kathy Wilson (John), Wichita; sons, Dan Stephenson (Gail), Ed Stephenson (Angela), John Stephenson, all of Hutchinson, Joe Stephenson (Jodie) Bradenton, FL, Shane Stephenson (Andrea), Kansas City, KS; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Stephenson, Rye, CO; sister, Judy Theriot (David), Sterling; sister-in-law, Jeanne Garcia, Hutchinson; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Joseph and M.E. ‘Whitey’ Stephenson; and grandsons, Ryan and Mickey Stephenson.
Parish rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2019, and Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Thursday, March 7, 2019, with Father Michael Maybrier officiating, both at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th Ave., Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Chapel of the Angels at St. Teresa in memory of Bud and Marcellee Stephenson, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
