Steven Manoah Carpenter age 69, of Caldwell, OH passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 1, 2019 at Southeastern Med in Cambridge, OH. He was born May 7, 1949 in Caldwell, a son of the late Manoah and Dorothy Warner Carpenter.



Steve was a 1967 graduate of the Shenandoah High School. He served and protected his nation in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He attended the First Church of Christ in Caldwell. Steve was an avid sports fan. The Cleveland Indians were his baseball team. He enjoyed playing golf in his free time. Following his retirement from the former Mahle Manufacturing Plant, he continued to work rehabbing and rebuilding houses. He was a family man and truly enjoyed his time with his grandchildren. He could often be found scouring through antique and resale shops to see what he could find.



In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son-in-law Robert Fogle; granddaughter Josie Childress; brothers-in-law Clarence Smithberger and Richard Goodhart; mother-in-law and father-in-law Marilyn and James Warner.



Those left to cherish his memory, are his loving wife of 50 years Sandra Scott Carpenter, whom he married November 5, 1969; 3 daughters Angela Fogle, Kathryn (William) Childress, and Brieann Reiter; grandsons Zach Fogle, James Fogle, and Dylan Mincks; granddaughters Ericka Reiter and London Childress; sister Kathryn Carpenter; sisters-in-law Jackie Smithberger, Cindy (Joe) Frederickson, Kimberly (Robert) Gerst; brothers-in-law Ronald Warner and James (Patsy) Warner; aunts Betty Moore and Mary Tilton. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.



The family will receive friends for visitation Monday, March 4, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Dale Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at the Eastern Cemetery in Summerfield, OH, with military graveside honors conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations
