Alfred C. Robinson of George West passed away on April 13th at the age of 86. Al was the great grandson of local Texas War of Independence veteran Jesse Robinson and his wife Sarah later known as Sally Scull. Alfred was born in Beeville but spent most of his formative years in the El Paso area. He graduated from Texas Tech and received graduate degrees from the University of Illinois and later a PhD in Systems Engineering from the University of Michigan. His working career included service as an officer in the US Air Force, Assistant Professor of Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Michigan, and finally as a project engineer with Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus Ohio where he worked on variety of Aerospace projects including the design of the Space Shuttle. Al’s lifelong passion was nature photography and he took pictures throughout the US with special fondness for the southwest. He spent many years on the art show circuit exhibiting and selling his photographs. He is survived by his wife Cindi, his son Chris (Shelley), his daughters Lynn (Dave), Gayle, and a host of nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Live Oak Outreach, Unify to Beautify, or Storyfest. Private family services for Mr. Robinson.
