Roger Dale Wheeler, age 66 of Beaver, WV went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 1, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 18, 1953 in Beckley, he was the son of the late Thamer Thurmond Wheeler and Ramona Darlene Vaught Wheeler.
Mr. Wheeler was a retired long haul truck driver for 17 years, retiring in 2005. He also worked in the Labor Union as a construction worker for 14 years. He helped build Crossroads Mall, Raleigh Mall, Interstate 64, and Baileysville Dam.
Mr. Wheeler attended Sophia High School and Job Corp in Texas. He was a member of Blue Jay United Methodist Church, and enjoyed fishing, attending ball games, and going to the Skate Park with his grandsons and neighborhood kids.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wheeler was preceded in death by brothers, Curtis and Gregory Wheeler.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly forty-four years, Rose Etta Richmond Wheeler; two children, Amy Lynn Wheeler of Shady Spring, and John Dale Wheeler of Beaver. Two grandsons, Preston Wheeler and Haden Hager. Sisters: Imajean Wallace of Fireco, Rita Richmond of Beckley, Lisa Wheeler and Yvonne Tucker, both of NC. Brothers: James M. Wheeler of NC, Kennedy Lee Wheeler of Beckley, Thamer Thurmond Wheeler Jr., Steven Wheeler, and Leroy Wheeler, all of NC. Many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and his special mother-in-law Rosemary Richmond also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Wednesday March 6, 2019 at 11AM with Pastor Bill Sweeney officiating, and assisted by Pastor David Altizer, and Pastor Royal D. Vaught. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be nephews, Jay and Casey Pierce, Willard Chapman, Chris and Kelly Wallace, and Trent Hubbard. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Wheeler's brothers.
