She was born on Nov. 27, 1942, in Carrier Mills, Ill., to Bennie and Myrtle (Durbin) Martin. She married Larry W. Belcher on May 3, 1990, in Eureka, Ill. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2009.
Her survivors are two stepdaughters, Doria (Bob) Young of Goodfield, Ill., and Meredith Belcher of York, Neb.; stepson, Joe Belcher of Pekin, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald (Jean) Cullum of Washington and Keven (Carol) Martin of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; one sister, Sandy (Jim) Davis of Olathe, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews, including Dawn Marie Wilcoxen of Heyworth.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Peggy worked for Clark Oil for several years throughout the Peoria area.
She was a member of the Knights of Columbus, loved reading, crossword puzzles and traveling to Florida.
She will be remembered as a good person.
A service to celebrate the lives of Peggy and her husband, Larry, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Evan Williams will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
