Danny Lamar Brock, 66, after many years of physical obstacles during his earthly pilgrimage, met his Lord on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from Sanctuary Hospice House where he had resided the last four months. God saw him through until he gave him the victory on Wednesday past. Danny was born on January 18, 1952 in Houston to the late William Jackson Brock and Ruby Mae Park Brock. He lived his entire life in Van Vleet in his parent’s home until moving in 2017 to Tupelo to be with his sister and primary caretaker, Jackie Hughes. Danny spent his earliest working years in the furniture industry before becoming disabled. He was a very misunderstood person by misunderstanding people. Danny often danced to the beat of a different drummer but he always knew his faith was secure in the Lord. A lifelong member of the Van Vleet Methodist Church, his lifelong best hobby was gun collecting and deer hunting. He killed well over 25 deer in his lifetime. Danny loved food and made eating an art form. The family is grateful he is no longer suffering but enjoying eternal life with his Lord and Savior.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Fred Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in the Brock family plot at Asbury Cemetery in Van Vleet. Visitation will be from 11 AM-service time Saturday only at Holland-Tupelo Chapel which is honored to be serving their friends.

Danny’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family he leaves behind; his daughter, Brandy Byars of Pontotoc; 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; his sisters, Jackie Hughes and husband, Cullie of Tupelo and Clytee Hester of Houston. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Dustin Brock who died May 26, 2007 and his siblings, Hazel Harmon, Joyce Myatt and Bill Brock.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Jones, Danny Lee Harmon, Bennie Baker, Tyke Thomas and Chris Hester. Honorary pallbearer will be his brother in law, Cullie Hughes.

For those who may not be able to attend, the service may be viewed at Noon Saturday and for 60 days thereafter at www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/Livestreaming.
