Don was also recognized for his work on various committees, boards and other activities, including the Wessels Living History Farm, York County Development Corporation, Cornerstone Bank, Federal Savings and Loan in York, the York Country Club, St. Joseph School Board, the York Public School Board, the Youth Football Board, the Nebraska Association of Commerce and Industry, the Board of Elders at First Presbyterian Church, the York Chamber of Commerce, the York United Fund, the York Housing Committee and York College, along with the Governor’s Task Force for Nebraska Tax Policies.
He is survived by his son Don II; daughters: Courtney (John) Bulin, Darcy (Bob) Moran, and Nicole (Bob) Corning. He is also survived by his cherished companion Corinne Kidder. His grandchildren include: Jamie (Travis) Bahm, Don Freeman, John Moran (Lyndsey Carroll), Sydney (Cody) Osburn, Jarod (Jennifer) Moran, Lauren (Nick) Crosnoe, Freeman Bulin, Elizabeth Corning, Nicholas Corning and Rachel Corning; great- grandchildren include: Cameron Crosnoe, Maxx and Nixon Bahm, Waverly Moran and Maylee Osburn. Don is also survived by brother and sister in law John and Jane Seigel and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church in York with the Reverend Dr. Michael Eickhoff officiating. Private family inurnment will be held in St Joseph Catholic Cemetery near York.
