Samuel Hill writes in "Bygone Stalybridge" that:
Albert Hall Esq J.P. was the son of James Hall of Cocker Hill
and was born near the Old Spread Eagle Inn in 1804.
He was educated at Whitley Hall, a private college near Sheffield.
He entered the cotton business of his father at King Street Mills.
Albert Hall was an art critic and had an excellent art collection.
It is said that Mr Hall was himself an artist. He was a keen sportsman.
Albert Hall died at East View, Old Mottram Road, on 31 December 1885,
at the age of 82 years, and was interred at Old St George's Church.

James Hall, of King Street Mill, occupied Higher Mill in 1836, and steam power was being used.
Ownership of King Street Mill passed to James Hall in 1832, his sons built a new mill on the opposite side of King Street in 1850. The new mill was in cotton until the 1870ś and was demolished before 1892.
Rasbottom Mills: Some mills transferred to James Hall, Son & Co, but became disused in the 1880s and were demolished.

During the Trade Disturbances of December 1830 / January 1831 Albert Hall was either an Assistant Constable or a Special Constable.

held at the Mechanics Institution in Stalybridge on 26 December 1866, held
to raise funds to reduce the debt owed on the building. Art and craft works
were on display

The Association was recently formed by working men of the Manchester area
to counteract the National Reform Union.
