It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Sherri Lynn Wilson. Whether you knew her as mom, Mamo, Sherri or Sherri Lynn you are sure to treasure that relationship – just as she did with you. She would not want others to remember her in illness but in life. She loved, laughed and was loved. There's no higher honor we can leave behind as our legacy. She touched many on her journey with her intelligence, warmth and love.

She wouldn't want tears and sadness from her passing, instead recall something she did that brings a smile. Tell stories, laugh, cry and laugh again. Celebrate the love she brought into this world with the hope that we carry on her love and light.

Expanded Life Story:
Sherri Lynn Wilson, 67, formerly of Kearney died Friday, February 22, 2019, in Thornton, CO. Sherri was born February 20, 1952 in Greeley, CO and died peacefully in Thornton, CO on February 22, 2019 at 67 years old. She lived the majority of her life in Golden, CO.

Sherri was born on Feb. 20, 1952 in Greeley, CO to R.D. (Dick) & Donna Wilson. Her father was a teacher and farmer and her mother was a home maker. Both were incredibly hard working. She was the oldest of four children; Clark, John and Suzan. Sherri was often taking care of her younger siblings. As a child she lived in York, Minden and Kearney. Sherri loved to spend time alone and has told the story about hiding in the big lilac bushes at her grandparents' house just to think and be by herself. She loved to ride horses and spend time with her grandparents.

Sherri graduated from Kearney High School in 1970. She attended college for a short time at Kearney State College and married Dennis Murry in 1972. Dennis was a teacher and coach, they had three children. Sherri loved her children very much. She taught her kids to play, like real kid play; get dirty, climb trees, collect bugs and butterflies, play in the hay, the barn, the park, swing, run, jump and yell. Even though Dennis and Sherri divorced, they remained friends. Neither ever said an unkind word about the other in front of the kids.

Her children blessed her with three beautiful grandchildren. She loved being "mamo". Sherri loved to shower them with love and to teach them naughty things that their parents wouldn't like.

In 1994 she was blessed again with 100's of new "kids", all calling her mom. In 1994, Sherri began working as the live-in housemom for the Beta Theta Pi fraternity at the CO School of Mines. She received several national awards for being "House Mom of the Year". She really applied her mom skills to her Beta boys. Sherri would speak very fondly, with a sparkle in her eye of all the shenanigans that the kids got into and she got them out of. She LOVED her work at the Beta House and she loved all the extended relationships created; girlfriends, fiancés, wives, parents, ex-girlfriends, boyfriends, advisors, alumni, too many to mention.

Sherri was a creative old soul. When her children were young, she started her own business called "Sweet Stuffins". She created individual dolls that were very life like for the 1970's. She made each one by hand and filled them with love. She owned a metaphysical shop in Golden, CO for a time where she sold healing crystals, essential oils, natural remedies, aura pictures, dragons, fairies, angels, fortune telling, and anything mystical. She also did event planning on the side for a time. No one could plan a party like Sherri. She loved for others to feel special. Sherri was also a massage therapist and Reiki Master and loved to make her clients feel better.

Throughout her lifetime, Sherri wrote pages and pages of poetry. Binders full of poetry. Here is an example that she wrote when she was a senior in High School titled "Dreams".

"Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is an injured bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow."

Her favorite holiday was Christmas, not for the gifts but for the family time. She loved to recreate the memories of her childhood when the whole family got together. She cooked and baked like a pro. Luckily many of us had an opportunity to taste her food. She loved to feed a crowd. She loved to frequent the Dollar Store or Wal-Mart for deals, even when she was low on funds, she would want to give a small gift to make you feel special. She spent so much extra time on the package, the wrapping, the bows, the presentation. She liked making something look fancy to make you feel special.

Some of Sherri's favorite things: Pepsi, a good cheeseburger, Milky Way candy bars, Chocolate Malts, her favorite color was purple and anything jewel toned, polar bears, lilac bushes, and the mountains. She was a self-proclaimed "dead head". She loved to snowboard, the outdoors, natural remedies, anything mystical and old world, AM radio, cooking, baking, horses, poetry, flowers, and Cherry Garcia ice cream. One of her favorite sayings when she was mad was "go pound sand."

With her strong-willed, free and feisty spirit or some may recall with a smile, stubbornness, she championed her children (including the 100's of Beta's) and loved to make a difference in other's lives. She would give advice, boss you around, lend a hand, just chill, and tell you the truth even when it was hard to hear.

Survived by children Shannon Murry, Brian (Lindsey) Murry and Chrisanne (Bryan) Wickham, grandchildren; Taylor & Morgan Wickham, Olivia Murry; father, R.D Wilson; siblings, Clark (Cherlyn) Wilson, John (Laura) Wilson, Suzan Wilson. Preceded in death by mother, Donna Wilson; grandparents, Henry & Alma Wilson.

Sherri was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all her friends and family.

Cards/memorials can be sent to daughter; Shannon Murry, 3525 N. 175th Plz #105, Omaha, NE 68116. The family will have a private ceremony in the mountains in the Spring.
